Paul Tarantino is an award winning filmmaker who has written, directed and edited for film and television. Having started out in improv comedy at the world famous Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, he used his unique gift for comedic writing & direction to create his first award winning indie feature COURTING COURTNEY which starred such notable comedy talents as: DANA GOULD, KATHY GRIFFIN, IAN GOMEZ, JULIE SWEENEY, RYAN STILES, TAYLOR NEGRON, and ANA GASTEYER. The film premiered at the prestigious ROTTERDAM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL and has appeared on the Sundance Channel.
In television, Paul has worked with ESPN to produce & edit the documentary series ESPN REEL CLASSICS UNCUT – as well as a series of award winning comedy shorts starring SAMUEL L. JACKSON, JOE THEISMANN, and CHRIS KATAN, which aired during the ESPY AWARDS. Tarantino edited on the hit Discovery Channel series DIRTY JOBS, the History Channel’s LARRY THE CABLE GUY: ONLY IN AMERICA and BIG SHRIMPIN’, wrote & edited on the SyFy CHANNEL documentary series DESTINATION TRUTH and VERSUS NETWORK’S documentary series SPORTS JOBS with JUNIOR SEAU. He directed comedy pilot presentations for FREMANTLE MEDIA, FOX TELEVISION STUDIOS, FX, GSN, OUTDOOR LIFE NETWORK, and STUN CREATIVE. In the commercial world Tarantino has produced, directed, and edited GRACIE, TELLY, and PROMAX AWARD WINNING spots for numerous television series including TWENTIETH TELEVISION’s highly successful DIVORCE COURT as well as the TBS, HGTV, USA, LIFETIME and OWN NETWORKS.
Paul is at the forefront of the Internet Revolution having produced/directed/edited several web series for BRAVOtv.com. He has also edited SONY PICTURES TELEVISION’s original comedy series THE WRITERS ROOM, and produced the highly successful internet series PUSHING TWILIGHT for IFC.com and MOM LIFE WITH JEN & BARB. He is currently developing other series for the net.
Most recently, Tarantino produced & edited the theatrically released feature documentary THE NATURE OF EXISTENCE, a film that asks why do we exist, and what man’s purpose is — little questions…big answers. The documentary travels the world interviewing religious scholars, physicists, artists, philosophers, spiritual visionaries, and others who have influenced, inspired, or freaked out humanity. Currently he is in development on his next scripted feature film, the thriller MINT, which he is writing & directing for release in late 2012.
